Privacy Policy
Effective date: 13 July 2026 · App version 1.0.0
The short version: everything you enter stays on your phone. The app has no account system, no server, no analytics, and no ads. We cannot see your data because it never reaches us.
What the app stores, and where
Independent Athlete keeps all of its data in the app's private storage on your device:
- Your onboarding answers (age, training background, time budget, training location, goals, and any optional details you add).
- Your weekly plan and any edits you make to it.
- Custom exercises you create.
- Your workout history: completed exercises, sets, reps, loads, and notes.
The app itself never transmits any of this anywhere and keeps no cloud copy. One thing outside the app's control: like most Android apps, its local data may be included in your phone's own Android backup (the device backup you manage in your system settings, stored in your Google account). That backup belongs to you, is governed by Google's privacy policy, and can be turned off in your phone settings.
What we collect
Nothing. The app does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. It contains no analytics or advertising software.
Microphone and voice logging
The optional "Say your sets" feature uses the microphone only after you tap it, to turn spoken sets into numbers. Speech recognition runs entirely on your device using Android's on-device recognizer; audio is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere, and no speech leaves your phone. The recognized numbers are saved to your workout history exactly like typed ones. If your phone does not support on-device recognition, the feature simply does not appear. You can deny or revoke the microphone permission at any time and log everything by typing instead.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, an error report (the technical error message and a stack trace, never your training data) is saved on your device only. The app then offers a share button. A report reaches the developer only if you choose to send it yourself, using an app you pick, such as your email or messaging app. Nothing is ever sent automatically.
Google Play
If you install the app through Google Play, Google may report standard aggregate statistics to the developer, such as install counts and crash rates. That reporting is governed by Google's own privacy policy and happens for every Play app; it is not something this app adds.
Deleting your data
Two ways, both complete:
- In the app: More, then "Reset local app data".
- Uninstall the app. Android removes its private storage with it.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app changes how data is handled, this page will be updated first and the effective date above will change.
